Mr. Giel is a former FBI Special Agent (10 years of service), having specialized in Organized Crime and White Collar Crime. Supervised and covertly participated in two multi-year under cover investigations involving organized crime - control of labor unions in NYC, and nationwide copyright infringement and money laundering schemes in the U.S. sound recording industry.
After leaving the FBI Mr. Giel served as Director of Investigations (15 years) for the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) where he supervised the domestic anti-piracy program for the U.S. sound recording industry, which included eight offices.
Mr. Giel was subsequently promoted to Vice President, Anti-Piracy International (10 years) where he supervised international piracy investigations for the RIAA and represented the international recording industry as a Regional Anti-Piracy Enforcement Coordinator for North America.
Mr. Giel coordinated anti-piracy investigations for the International Federation of the Phonographic Industries (IFPI) located in London with branch offices worldwide including Hong Kong, Russia, Western Europe, Latin America, and Africa and supervised the submission of suspect product samples to the IFPI Forensic Facility in London.
Mr. Giel participated in criminal investigations and maintains professional contacts with all levels of law enforcement including the FBI, Secret Service, Homeland Security (U.S. Customs & Border Patrol/ Immigration & Customs Enforcement), U.S. Postal as well as local and state agencies throughout the U.S. as well as with many international law enforcement organizations.
